Art Gallery
The Picture Butte Art Gallery opened its doors in the Fall of 2006; it was gifted to the community by Phil and Traci Mack. The Picture Butte Art Gallery is located adjacent to the P.T. Pharmacy. The Friends of the Picture Butte Municipal Library curate the Art Gallery. The Gallery has three artist exhibitions a year and there is an afternoon designated to meet the artists at every exhibition. This is an opportunity to meet the artists and watch them at work. May is always designated as Children's Art Month and December is decorated for the Christmas Season.
During the Christmas Season the Picture Butte Art Gallery holds a Christmas Tree decorating contest and encourages all businesses and schools to compete in this fun and festive competition. The Picture Butte Art Gallery does have specialty exhibitions such as a photography show from one family and another being the most popular display of wood turning from the members of the Woodturning Guild. Most of the exhibitions have included works from the artists in the local Picture Butte Art Club but the contributors are from all over Southern Alberta.
The Gallery is open 6 days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. entering through the Pharmacy.
The Picture Butte Art Club runs from September until the end of May and costs $10.00 to join. Picture Butte Art Club meets at the Community / Seniors Centre every Tuesday from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. For more information contact Jessie Malmberg 403-732-4015.
