Municipal Election Candidate Training
The Society of Local Government Managers is offering free training sessions for potential candidates and their campaign workers. The sessions are designed to prepare candidates for the local authority elections by helping you better understand the rigors and demands of elected office, while fostering ethical standards in the election campaign process.
The Lethbridge session is being held on Monday, September 11th from 7:00 to 10:00 PM in the lower level of the Keg Restaurant. Sessions are also being offered in Edmonton, Calgary and Grande Prairie. Registration is required.

Fire BAN In Effect
Due to a lack of improvement to the hot and dry conditions, the Fire Restrictions in place have been upgraded to a full Fire Ban. At this time, no fires are permitted anywhere in Town, unless they are fueled by propane or natural gas. All other fires, including those in approved fire pits on private property, are stictly banned. All the information is available in the updated information release.
Thank you to everyone who has been complying the various levels of fire restrictions in Town and for watching for potential wildfires in the area.
Remember, if you spot a wildfire CALL 9-1-1.
Due to the recent extended period of hot, dry weather and in the interest of public safety, the Town of Picture Butte's Fire Chief has implemented Fire Restrictions for the Town. All the information is available in the information release.
Fire Restrictions also extend to fireworks, meaning that the fireworks display for Jamboree Days have been cancelled.
2017 Election Information
2017 is an election year for Municipalities in Alberta! Election day is Monday, October 16th, 2017.
Thinking about running for Town Council? A total of five positions are available for election: four Councillors and one Mayor. All five members of Council are elected by a vote of all residents of Town.

Pool Closed for Season

Grass Pick Ups Every Tuesday
Begining Tuesday, April 4th, 2017, Town staff will be picking up yard waste each Tuesday.
Crews will pick up any grass or leaves that are deposited in approved non-corrosive, durable metal, plastic or recyclable paper bag containers, which must not weigh more than 50 pounds (23 kilograms). Please place containers for grass pick up in your back alley by 8:00 a.m. each Tuesday. If you do not have a back alley, containers should be placed in the front, where your regular garbage is left. Branches must be bundled and cut in lengths of not more that four feet.
Plastic garbage bags containing yard refuse will NOT be picked up as they cannot be composted.
Picture Butte Bylaw Enforcement
The Town of Picture Butte, the Town of Coaldale, Town of Coalhurst and the Village of Barons are all happy to announce the commencement of our new bylaw enforcement program, called Coaldale and District Municipal Enforcement.
Four Community Peace Officers (CPOs) will be working various shifts to allow for seven day a week coverage, primarily from the hours of 7 AM until 9:30 PM, however the times may vary due to changes in the Officers' shifts. The four CPOs will be responsible for enforcing all municipal bylaws as well as provincial traffic offences under the Traffic Safety Act.
If you have a question for an officer or have a complaint, you can call 1-844-645-2635. Complaints can also be filed using the new online form. When accessing the link, you may need to adjust your browser to allow pop ups.
When using the online form to submit a complaint, under the heading of "Select a Group", use the drop down arrow and select "Coaldale and District Municipal Enforcement". Once you have made the selection, click on "Write New Online Report" and fill in the information. When finished, it will be sent to an officer on duty and will be dealt with in a timely fashion. If the matter is an emergency, please call 911.
